Job Description:
MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
- Manage, lead, and implement oil and gas facilities projects (greenfield and brownfield) to satisfy business expansion objectives within agreed budgets, schedules, quality and HSE.
- In depth management of all engineering, procurement, subcontracting, construction, contractual, planning and cost estimating activities at all stages of the project life cycle.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Projects Activities
- Plans, organises, manages and controls various projects of differing complexities and magnitudes primarily in the upstream & midstream oil and gas sector.
- Directs and controls project progress including: budgeted costs, timelines, quality, Contractors and Suppliers in order to ensure that the project specifications and approved parameters are met.
- In-Depth monitoring and control of engineering, procurement and construction activities to ensure seamless project execution.
- Manages technical clarification meetings with various vendors & construction contractors.
- Engages with subsurface, drilling, facilities engineering, marketing and finance teams as required to achieve project objectives.
Planning and Budgeting
- Prepares project cost estimates, technical tender documents and actively engages in tender evaluations and contract awards.
- Takes ownership of the project’s budget by delivering the project within the budget defined, monitors progress and reports back to senior management via weekly or other progress reporting.
Policy, Systems and Processes
- Ensures policies, systems and processes for executing projects fulfil the company’s requirements in line with the vision, mission and overall strategy of the company.
- Ensures that project policies, systems and processes are documented, approved, communicated and implemented properly.
Health, Safety, Security, Quality & Environment
- Ensures compliance to all relevant health, safety, security, quality and environmental management procedures and controls within the feasibility analysis to guarantee staff safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high quality products/services and a responsible environmental attitude.
- Ensures that the risks are properly assessed, and security plans are in place to assure a safe working environment for all members of the project team
Continuous Improvement of Position
- Provides input and recommends the continuous improvement of project management practices taking into account ‘international best practices’, changes in international standards and changes in the business environment which demand proactive action plans.
Minimum Educational, Technical Qualifications/Certifications Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, preferably with project management qualifications.
- Minimum 10 years of project management experience in the implementation of EPC projects within the oil and gas industry.
- Must have commenced career in a technical engineering discipline (minimum 3 years) prior to taking up a role in project management.
- Must have broad knowledge of upstream and midstream oil, gas & energy industry applications and technologies.
