MAJOR FUNCTIONS 

  • Crescent Petroleum have an opportunity for a Process Engineer to join our Projects team in Sharjah in the UAE. This is a key role within the Sharjah office working under the instruction of the Chief Process Engineer and Senior Process Engineer to provide technical assurance to feasibility and conceptual studies, FEED, and EPC scopes of work.  
  • The scope of activities will include process engineering calculations, process simulations, P&ID and PFD reviews, participation in HAZOP and technical safety studies, project cost estimates, reporting on technical work plus other related tasks as assigned.  The role requires close coordination and interfacing with the Projects, Operations, Corporate, Contractors and third parties.  
  • The scope of the role is expected be varied and wide-ranging and will provide and excellent platform for further professional development.   


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Carries out Process Engineering Calculations, Process Simulations, P&ID and PFD Reviews and other related tasks assigned by the Process Engineering Team.
  • Uses process design tools such as Aspen HYSYS, PIPESIM and Aspen Flare System Analyzer to validate process designs.
  • Prepares inputs for project cost estimates.
  • Checks the work of Contractors and Peers.
  • Pro-actively resolves design issues with Contractors, Vendors and Third Parties.
  • Provides discipline input relating to project scope definition, project execution and reviews technical proposals and deliverables from Contractors as delegated.
  • Prepares presentations and written technical summaries to support project decision making.  
  • Works professionally with others within the Projects Teams and with Operations as required. 
  • Travels to project worksites in the Kurdish Region of Iraq (KRI) to carry out site-based activities as needed. 
  • Participates in training and development programs and maintains awareness of current issues and developments in the industry.


Required Skills  

  • Good working knowledge and experience of oil and gas industry codes, specifications and practices.
  • Experience of onshore upstream projects. Specific gas processing experience an advantage. 
  • Self-motivated, proactive individual with high achievement drive and initiative, highly analytical, and having excellent verbal and written communication skills and good organisational awareness
  • Able to produce process simulations using Aspentech Hysys and use other design tools such as Pipesim and Flare System Analyzer, etc.


MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL, TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Bachelors or master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related field from reputable academic institution.  
  • Preferably a member of a relevant professional body or institution. 
  • Proficient in the use of process simulation software such as Aspen HYSYS and other process software design tools.  
  • Experience of process safety studies, e.g. HAZOP an advantage. 
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office Suite)
  • Fluent in English – verbal and written


MINIMUM PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Minimum 5 years professional experience of working in a variety of oil and gas projects and phases, including greenfield and brownfield, concept through to project execution, with onshore upstream project experience an advantage.
