Job Description:
MAJOR FUNCTIONS
- Monitor, review and approve (as required) EPC contractor relevant engineering/design activities. Ensures all deliverables related to civil structural design are in accordance with the projects’ and Company’s design intent, prescribed specifications and good engineering practice and are completed within schedule.
- Technical Authority for Civil, Structural and Architectural engineering. Projects are on-shore.
- Develop civil structural studies, reports and basic engineering deliverables for new projects. Work also includes field support.
- Oversee Civil Contractors on site as required to ensure their projects are on schedule and on budget and delivered to the requisite quality
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for meeting Company’s engineering quality levels for discipline on assigned projects.
- Oversees development of civil and structural steel design concepts and ensure proper application and execution.
- Develop scope of work documents related to civil works, site preparation, facility infrastructure, camps, topographical and geotechnical surveys, etc.
- Assists Contractor’s teams to produce engineering/construction documents that meet the project requirements within the allocated schedule and budget.
- Verifies Contractor’s work quality regarding specifications, reports, code application, submittal review, deliverables, and drawings.
- Checks that scope of work documents prepared by various contractors are reflective of project requirements and specifications
- Carry out technical bid evaluations to ensure contractor compliance with project specifications
- Reconciles any conflicting design requirements by providing solutions for alignment
- Responds to Contractor technical query, technical deviation and concession requests
- Provides technical responses to Contractor’s variation requests
- Ensure optimized and cost effective design in all phases of the project and update Company specifications by incorporating lessons learned
- Manages work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours.
- Develops design concepts and basic engineering deliverables for new projects.
- Audit construction activities and assure that the works are in accordance with specifications
- Works collaboratively with other disciplines to optimize design.
Reporting and Working Relationships
- Reports to the Engineering Manager on all projects related activities and critical issues.
- Reports to Directors, Projects on any critical issues affecting project costs or schedule
- Maintains and exhibits excellent working relationships with all Crescent staff.
Required Skills
- Good knowledge of the industrial context, contract practice and oil & gas operations in general.
- Expert knowledge of codes and standards applicable to oil and gas installations
- Expert knowledge of on-shore civil and structural design and engineering
- Ability to plan, conduct and direct engineering calculations, studies, evaluations and development projects
- Good stakeholder management skills and ability to work without a team
- Fully conversant with good engineering practice
Minimum Educational, Technical Qualifications/Certifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree in civil Engineering discipline – Individuals lacking the necessary formal qualifications, but having above average relevant experience may also be considered.
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in oil and gas industry
- Work experience as a Lead Civil Engineer with a tier 1/major EPC Contractor in the development of EPC deliverables
- Work experience with an oil/gas operating company
- Good knowledge of the industrial context, contract practice and Oil & Gas operations in general.
- Good sense of team spirit leadership, strong interpersonal & soft communication.
- Iraq project experience is a plus but not mandatory
- Fluent in English – verbal and written. Arabic speaker is a bonus
