Senior Mechanical Engineer (Static Equipment & Piping)
Iraq, IQ
MAJOR FUNCTION:
The role of Senior Mechanical Static and Piping Engineer will require a blend of project, maintenance, and operational experience. The Mechanical Engineer will form part of Crescent’s Engineering team and will be responsible for maintaining and improving the overall Asset Integrity of the site, specifically in relation to the existing mechanical equipment and piping systems. They will oversee design works associated with the existing facility; Gas Compression, Processing, Storage and loading.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, specify, procure, operate and maintain piping systems including all valves.
Design, install and maintain pressure vessels, tanks and any internals, and other process equipment packages like gas dehydration, LPG and NGL Storage and loading facilities, and associated utility equipment. - Develop, Design, evaluate, verify, operate and maintain Fired Equipment; Boilers, Heaters, Heat Recovery Steam Generators, and furnaces and thermal incinerators.
- Design and specify heat exchanger equipment, which deliver the required performance satisfying both pressure and structural integrity and its reliability for a minimum life cycle cost.
- Design and evaluate facility and piping layout and equipment arrangement minimising the capital, operational and maintenance expenditure, while addressing safety, environmental, operational, and construction issues.
- Design, specify and procure lifting devices consistent with maintainability and layout studies and governing regulatory and operating unit requirements.
- Develop, design and specify adequate safeguarding systems for preventing overpressure, which result in risk levels for overpressure that are below the customers risk acceptance criteria. These include vents & snuffing systems; relief devices and rupture discs; flares tips and flare ignition systems; and flare scrubbers.
- Develop, Review, Challenge and Maintain Static Equipment Engineering Technical Standards & software, including design philosophies (internal and external to business), performance standards, and maintenance strategies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:
The main purpose of the role is to provide mechanical engineering support to operations and projects in Crescent Petroleum, the duties and accountabilities include:
- Providing support to Crescent Engineering Manager as a Mechanical Technical Authority (TA) to assure technical integrity of the Khor Mor plant throughout its life-cycle, and by championing the MoC (Management of Change) processes.
- Providing assurance of integrity in the operating facility, its systems and network. Ensuring we take a pragmatic approach to extending the design life of the plant, and its mechanical and piping systems wherever possible.
- Conduct Fit for Service Assessments in both Mechanical Equipment and Piping Systems, and be fully conversant with API 579, ASME PCC-02 and other recognised international fit for service codes.
- Provide guidance on Khor Mor discipline resourcing, competency management, and engineering standards
- Ensuring contractor’s deliverables are as approved and are technically compliant.
- Ensuring the processes, procedures and tools are used, and ensure their proper implementation by the Engineering Contractor.
- Undertake technical and feasibility studies, and site investigations.
- Provide Mechanical engineering input into scope for shutdowns/turnarounds, and where necessary be the Job Responsible Party on specific activities.
- Assist with planning and supervision of emergency and scheduled repair work programs.
- Will lead on Vibration Analysis within the engineering team, specifically focusing on the avoidance of Vibration induce fatigue on existing mechanical equipment and piping.
- Prepare technical modifications, bid packages, and technically analyse bid documentation, in relation to the above elements, supporting the wider facilities engineering function to execute work scopes.
- Support the design and selection process for utility and HVAC systems that meet the required duty parameters and specified thermodynamic efficiencyHSE AND RISK
