Production Control Room Operator

Basic Function and Scope:

• Commissioning & Start-up of Gas & LPG plant andequipment. Develop, review and update Commissioning &Start-up procedures and Operating Procedures.
• Start-up and shutdown plant and equipment in accordancewith operating procedures.
• Monitor plant and equipment function - Observing alloperating parameters and performing regular checks toensure equipment is operating correctly. Taking correctiveaction as necessary and reporting any deviations or issues to Production Supervisor.
• Utilizes experience and hazard identification knowledge tominimize plant hazards during routine activities throughutilization of STEP 2 program. Reports to ProductionSupervisor and Operations Superintendent.
• Monitor and control production team activities through faceto face and radio contact

Principle Responsibilities:

• Start-up and shutdown plant and equipment from ICSS byfollowing procedures and under instruction from theProduction Supervisor
• Direct Shift team to safely Operate, start-up and shut-downplant and Equipment
• Monitors all aspects of the plant and respond to deviationsfrom normal operations.
• Respond to Alarms, trends, and other associated controlroom equipment to ensure safe continued operations of thefacilities
• Completes log sheets and maintain a daily log of all eventsoccurring in the CCR
• Attends and takes part in verbal handovers at the start andend of shift.
• Gives and receives a verbal & written handover at the startand end of shift.
• Identifies abnormalities in process parameters, maintainsprocess conditions within safe operating envelope and takescorrective action.
• Ensures compliance with Permit to Work and HSERegulations and Procedures

Commissioning & Start-up

• Provide expertise during commissioning, start-up, and earlyoperations phases of new plant and equipment utilizing DCS knowledge and experience to best use available data and technology
• Participate in FAT, Commissioning workshops and attendVendor training as necessary.
• Provide leadership, coaching & mentoring to LN CRO’s in allaspects of commissioning & start-up.
• Undertake trouble shooting during commissioning & start-up,identify & resolve issues to ensure safe, start-up andproduction.

Health, Safety & Quality

• Ensures all work is carried out safely and meetsenvironmental standards and local regulations.
• Ensures company safety and environmental policies arefollowed by all personnel working in the Plant
• Promotes a positive safety culture within the shift team byraising the standards of ‘Hazard Awareness’ and theimplementation of the ‘2nd STEP’

Reporting and Communication

• Reports to the Production Supervisor on all issues relating toown work.
• Ensures good communications with existing Operations staffto ensure potential impacts to each other are understood andmanaged accordingly.
• Exhibits and maintains excellent working relationships withall Company staff.

Continuous Improvement of Position

• Continues to develop own professional expertise throughoptimizing on-the-job training and experiential opportunities.
• Provides on the job training to trainee CRO’s and impartsown experience to raise competency within shift team
• Seeks opportunities to rationalize alarms and reduce alarmoverload in the CCR
• Promotes continuous improvement and interfacing withassociated operating teams in the same CCB to ensureuninterrupted operations

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

• A Degree in Chemical/Petroleum Engineering would be an advantage but is not essential if adequate relatedexperience can be demonstrated.
