Job Description: 

JOB SUMMARY:
Shall be responsible for ensuring the mechanical integrity for safe operation of pressure vessels, piping systems, and storage tanks within industrial facilities, primarily in the oil, gas, and petrochemical sectors but more specifically for a Gas processing plant. This role involves performing inspections according to the American Petroleum Institute (API) codes and standards, such as API 510 (Pressure Vessel Inspection), API 570 (Piping Inspection), and API 653 (Storage Tank Inspection) and sound engineering practice. The inspector shall be versed in analysing data from inspections and period chemical testing to determine the current state and concerns of the plant. Additionally, the inspector shall plan and execute inspection plans and determine inspection intervals. Determine remaining life of equipment. Qualify and assess welders. Provide support to monitor and control welding activities.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conducting Inspections:
•    Performing internal and external visual inspections, as well as coordinating and interpreting results from various Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods (e.g., UT, MT, PT, RT and advanced NDT methodologies and techniques) to assess equipment condition.
•    Drive inspection programmes for RBI, CUI, CUPS, TML, DEAD LEGS and SMALL-BORE CONNECTIONS.

Compliance and Standards:
•    Ensuring equipment adheres to applicable API codes, ASME standards, and regulatory requirements, and properly interpreting these guidelines.

Documentation and Reporting:
•    Maintaining detailed records of inspections, findings, and recommendations for repairs or replacements; generating comprehensive inspection reports and submitting them in a timely manner.
•    Maintain and update progressively all inspection databases.

Repair and Maintenance Coordination:
•    Recommending and approving necessary repairs or alterations to fixed equipment and potentially overseeing the execution of these repairs.

Risk Assessment:
•    Utilizing risk-based inspection (RBI) methodologies to determine inspection frequencies and prioritize maintenance activities.

Collaboration:
•    Working closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to ensure equipment reliability and safety.

Training and Mentorship:
•    Potentially instructing and supervising junior inspectors or helpers.

 

QUALIFICATION:
•    A minimum of 8 years with no significant gaps in in service inspection.
•    Significant experience in In-service industrial inspection, particularly within refineries, chemical plants, or similar heavy industries

 

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:
•    Strong understanding of fixed equipment design, materials, degradation mechanisms, and repair techniques.
•    Must be able to navigate codes and standards with ease.
•    Must be self-managed individual and must be a decision maker.
•    Must be able to write clear and concise inspection reports.
