Job Description:
MAJOR FUNCTION:
- The Metering Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, reliability, calibration, and compliance of all gas metering systems within the Khormor gas plant. This role supports custody transfer, fiscal measurement, allocation, and process measurement systems in line with international standards and company policies.
- Reports to the Maintenance Superintendent in the maintenance of all site metering and supporting plant operations by managing and maintaining plant metering systems..
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot gas metering systems including Orifice meters, Ultrasonic flow meters, Turbine meters, Coriolis meters
- Ensure continuous and accurate measurement of gas, condensate, and associated fluids.
- Perform routine and periodic calibration of flow meters, transmitters, analyzers, and associated instrumentation.
- Validate metering systems against established standards (e.g., API, AGA, ISO).
- Coordinate third-party calibration and verification activities when required.
- Monitor and validate metering data for accuracy and consistency.
- Troubleshoot discrepancies in measurement data and resolve issues promptly.
- Ensure custody transfer measurements meet contractual and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain compliance with international standards
- Support audits and inspections related to metering systems.
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of metering equipment.
- Diagnose system faults in flow computers, analyzers, and control systems.
- Work closely with instrumentation and maintenance teams.
- Identify opportunities to improve measurement accuracy and system efficiency.
- Participate in metering system upgrades, modifications, and new project commissioning.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation including: Calibration records, Metering schematics, Maintenance logs,
- Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure all metering activities comply with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE)
Reporting and Communication
- Reports to the Maintenance Superintendent on all issues relating
- Participates in department daily meetings and reports on all activities
- Exhibits and maintains excellent working relationships with all CPDG staff, CONTRACTORs and Vendors
- Liaises closely with Production Operations, Maintenance and Engineering teams in activity planning, engineering change and cost control
- Communicates with equipment vendors and outside suppliers for technical support
Continuous Improvement
- Compiles information and conducts studies to identify areas for improvement of facilities and processes on a continuous basis.
- Recommends improvement actions and practices to senior personnel
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
- At least 10 years’ experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
- Fully experienced in working with safety management systems and a basic understanding of local safety management legislation
- In‐depth understanding of Oil & Gas production equipment, processes, and utility systems
- Proven track record in maintaining and trouble‐shooting metering and analytical equipment
- Experience of Emerson Delta-V & Dan-Pac, Allen Bradley PLCs, (Emerson metering systems preferrable)
- Hands-on experience with CMMS systems – SAP preferred
- Commissioning & start-up experience in metering and analytical instrumentation is an advantage
- Demonstrable experience in configuration and calibration of: multivariable, differential pressure, pressure and temperature transmitters
- Have robust working knowledge of ultrasonic, Coriolis & turbine meters
- Have a good working knowledge of calibration record packages & logbooks
- Able to set-up & deploy test equipment to perform calibrations accurately and safely (decade boxes, current generators, Beamex MC-5 & MC-6, pulse generators, etc.)
