Job Description:
MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for the supervision and management of the laboratory testing operations and staff conducting and reporting the analyses of various products such as hydrocarbon condensate, LPG, Natural Gas and NGL, Water Quality, DEA quality, Environmental analyses constituents.
- Spearhead the team of laboratory technicians and technical staff in accordance with laboratory technical procedures and protocols.
- Evaluate laboratory project development and scoping of required laboratory equipment and setting up criteria of new equipment.
- Manage and develop test methods and required equipment resources.
- Provide statistical data for the evaluation of laboratory method efficiency and productivity.
- Steer technical investigations, recommendations for continuous improvement of technical competency and efficient operations of the laboratory.
- Ensures compliance of the laboratory’s quality management and technical system.
- Ensures the laboratory’s compliance with all Regulatory Requirements.
- Maintains compliance with COSHH requirements.
- Provide technical support to operations in a Technical Advisory capacity.
- Excellent knowledge on petroleum laboratory testing and experience handling laboratory instruments such as GC, GCMS, IC, XRF, XRD, Wet Chemistry, AAS, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, and other related equipment.
- Must have the ability to think both analytically and strategically.
- An excellent understanding of the different facets of laboratory management i.e., health and safety, quality control, personnel management, budgeting and operational planning and scheduling.
- Excellent organizational, communication, leadership, problem-solving, critical thinking, and time management skills.
- Implementing a suitable LIMS system that optimize efficiency and meeting compliance requirements.
- Provide a leading role in troubleshooting and technical investigations to resolve customer and internal quality incidents.
- Continuous review and maintenance of QC lab procedures, and product specifications.
Minimum Educational, Technical Qualifications/Certifications Required:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry or suitably recognized qualification.
- A suitable postgraduate business qualification will be advantageous
- A minimum of 10 years working as a laboratory Supervisor/ Manager, ideally with at least 5 years in the laboratory management industry etc.
