Drilling Superintendent

MAJOR FUNCTION(S):
• Responsible for execution of safe and efficient drilling, completions and workover programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
HSE Accountability
• Ensures implementation of, and compliance with all applicable HSE policies and initiatives. Leads HSE efforts by example. Accountable for meeting HSE KPI’s for the rig team he/she is responsible for.
Drilling Operations
• Works closely with the engineering team in the planning phase to ensure operational feasibility and efficiency of the programs.
• Directs the Drilling Supervisors and ensures all programs are implemented in a safe and efficient manner.
• Ensures compliance with all Crescent Petroleum’s Standards and the requirements of the subsurface team.
• Ensures a proper management of change process is followed when changes are required.
• Communicates effectively to ensure all objectives of the programs, policies and standards are understood by all concerned parties.
• Reviews’ equipment planning with Engineers, Drilling Supervisors and Material & Logistics Coordinators to ensure timely equipment arrivals and backloading.
• Performs frequent wellsite inspections to ensure safety programs are conducted and monitored by the drilling contractors in a manner consistent with HSE policies.
• Prepares technical specifications and evaluations during the contracting and procurement process of the drilling rig and other drilling services.
• Conducts and documents operations risk assessments.
• Ensures all pre-job checklists are completed prior to commencing operations.
• Liaises with construction and civils personnel to ensure well sites are constructed to specifications, in a time and cost-effective manner.
Reporting and Budget Control
• Controls expenditure and ensures the variances between approved budget and actual expenditure are properly justified.
• Accountable for accurate reporting of cost and operational progress against predefined goals.
Leadership
• Provides leadership to contractor staff and subordinates by setting goals, managing performance, developing and motivating staff, provision of formal and informal feedback to maximize departmental performance.
Relationships Management
• Maintains and exhibits excellent working relationships with subordinates, contractors and Crescent Petroleum’s management.
Continuous Improvement
• Stays abreast of current technologies, monitors operational performance against pre-established goals, and makes/supports recommendations for continuous performance improvement.
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering preferred. Other credentials can substitute formal education, subject to Drilling Manager’s approval. Valid well control certificate required
• Minimum of 15 years of Oil field experience. Minimum 10 years as Drilling Supervisor or Superintendent. Minimum 5 years in drilling and/or completions engineering roles
